To Whom It May Concern:
Letter of Recommendation for Erin Zaideman
My name is Pamela Jones, Delegation Manager (DM), People to People World
Leadership Forum. Erin was one of my four Teacher Leaders (TLs) on our June 30-
July 5, 2013, leadership ambassadors’ (rising 5th & 6th graders) program in Washington
DC. As DM, I am responsible for executing the leadership program. The TLs are
totally responsible for the students; Erin had 13.
I was impressed by Erin’s group organization and management skills. Erin, who daily
wore her 4th of July themed hats and scarves, instilled in her group, “Team Patriot,”
great group dynamics, cohesiveness and respect for each other. She gave her students
responsibilities, such as being line leader or caboose, gathering the group together,
serving as group leader, and allowing them to view museum exhibits with their buddies.
Erin quickly appeared to understand her students; she identified and helped them to
develop their uniqueness, abilities, and talents.
During our evening return trip to the hotel, Erin asked open-ended questions as starters
for students’ discussions with their bus buddies. Then each journaled his thoughts.
Erin used opportunities to teach life lessons to her students. For example, at dinner an
opportunity arose with an adult who used inappropriate language displaying
discrimination. Another time Erin requested permission to speak to the entire delegation
about their behavior. I admired her interactive, inspirational talk about the importance
of being future leaders and setting standards for others. Definitely, she impacted the
entire group as positive behavior became the norm.
Erin is well prepared for every circumstance! When we gathered to watch the
fireworks, Erin, who brought bug spray, sprayed our bus passengers. She then offered
to spray those from the other buses. Everyone appreciated Erin!
Erin definitely taught leadership and always led by example. She has a way of
welcoming all with her ever present smile, her enthusiasm and boundless energy; she
truly cares and respects others and instills in them the same. Erin is a very bright
team player. I highly recommend Erin for the position of teacher. She will be a definite
asset to a school system, a classroom, and the students.
